Albany State University & Talley & Twine Watch Company Homecoming Partners Engage in Service-Learning Experience

The 2023 homecoming season was unforgettable with the feeling of RAMily all over the campus and local community. The spirit was exemplified by ASU alumni, partners, and owners of the Talley & Twine Watch Company, Randy Williams and Eric Heyward, as they engaged undergraduate students from the School of Business in a service-learning experience.Talley & Twine Student Interns

ASU marketing majors Jalen Barnes, Kayla Bruce, Bria Hill, Lunden Issac, Ambria O’Neil (virtual intern), Brionna Shipman, and Ti’Onne Tisdale assisted Talley & Twine Watch Company by advertising and marketing the business throughout the week of homecoming events. The students assisted with pop-up booths, press releases, and online marketing to further promote the business.

“The school of business is proud of the active involvement and commitment to learning through participation in this experiential learning initiative. The knowledge and skills that our students gained will undoubtedly be invaluable in their future careers. Dr. Peter Ngwafu, Dean for the College of Business, Education and Professional Studies stated, “To Randy and Eric, we extend our deepest appreciation for your unwavering support, mentorship, and  dedication to making this initiative possible. Your continued interaction with the School of Business and willingness to share your expertise with the next generation of business leaders is truly commendable.”

ASU student, Brionna Shipman said, “It was a great opportunity to be able to gain hands-on experience in areas within my field of interest. It was especially inspiring to have people who were once in our shoes give back to us in ways that really benefit our future as leaders and entrepreneurs. I look forward to passing along my wisdom and talents as a future alumna of Albany State University.”

Dr. Kathaleena Monds, Professor and Founding Director of the Center for Educational Opportunity who recruited and managed the interns said,  “We are grateful that our alumni invited our students to share their talents at this memorable event.  I am confident that such an experience will help to fuel their individual entrepreneurial spirit with the hopes that they too will create a 'multiplier effect' for generations to come in a similar way that Randy and Eric have demonstrated.”
