Why did you choose ASU?  L Johnson
I chose ASU for its accessibility and the positive feedback I got when bridging over from our technical college.

What motivated you to learn more about your field?
I love teaching and everything it has to offer. I decided to further my education because I want to maintain the status of a life-long learner for my students.

What do you love most about your chosen profession?
I love the students I get to pour into every day. Their smiles, laughs, and love help me know that I made the right decision for my career. It is such a privilege to teach young children new things and experience the world through their eyes!

Who has made the most significant impact on you, and who do you consider to be a role model at ASU?
I have two role models that I have worked with at ASU. Dr. Morris Arrington had the greatest impact on me during my undergraduate. He always provided me with feedback and pointers to be a better teacher. He reassured me that this profession was life-changing and that I would make an impact. During my graduate education, Dr. Bettie Stafford has always been kind, hard-working, and supportive of all my career needs. She continues to reach out to make sure I am doing well and that my educational needs are being met. I consider these two people the greatest mentors at ASU.

What advice would you give to other ASU students?
You are right where you need to be. Continue to work hard, even when it gets tough, and it will pay off. ASU is full of wonderful mentors for your career path, so take advantage of their knowledge and help. You might even find that you need their help even after you graduate!

What would you tell a high school student about choosing ASU to further their education?
ASU is staffed with some of the most helpful and kind people. Especially in the education field, if you need help, there will always be someone to call or email. I have enjoyed my undergraduate and graduate years at ASU, and I would highly recommend it to anyone!
