Commencement Spotlight: Tre Turner, Associate of Science in Emergency Medical Services

Accepted Position As: Paramedic at Grady EMS, Atlanta 911 Operations Department, and with Crisp County EMS

Tre Turner, a 25-year-old Columbus, Georgia native, will graduate from Albany State University (ASU) on December 10 with an Associate of Science degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). In the summer semester, Tre also completed the Emergency Medical Services Certificate program.

She served as an ASU EMS Advisory Committee Student Representative and received the Sabal Trail and EMS Scholarship from the Darton Health Professions Foundation.

Tre has accepted a position as a paramedic with the Grady EMS, Atlanta 911 Operations Department, and with Crisp County EMS. She hopes to gain experience in the field and continue her education in a public health graduate program. 

What motivated you to learn more about your field?
The desire to serve my community and be the best provider that I could was my motivation.

Why did you choose ASU?
The program was recommended by a former graduate, my boss.

What do you love most about your chosen profession?
I love the direct interaction with the community (citizens, public safety, and hospital staff).

Who has made the biggest impact on you and who do you consider to be a role model at ASU?
Matt and Rhonda Hunt.

What are you passionate about outside of your education?
Traveling and food!

What advice would you give to other ASU students?
Always consider opportunities, even if they seem to be outside your overall goal. Sometimes those opportunities can help shape that bigger picture.

Why would you say to a high school student about choosing ASU to further their education?
“Oh, the places you’ll go!”
