Albany State University honors 889 Students for Honors Day
Albany State University (ASU) recognized 889 students for Honors Day 2022 on March 17, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the West Campus Arena.
Sixty-seven of those students that were recognized had a perfect 4.0 GPA. Honors Day serves to formally recognize and honor undergraduate students from all disciplines. These students have demonstrated excellence in academic course work and research, which reflects this year’s theme: “Honoring Excellence in Academic Achievement.”
“Our students are setting an example for their peers to follow, through dedication and commitment to academic excellence and student success. This achievement empowers them to develop as scholars and leaders. This is a moment of pride for these students, their families, and our University,” said ASU President Marion Ross Fedrick.
CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Albany, Marvin Laster, served as the guest speaker. During his address, he made a $1,000 commitment to the Velma Fudge Grant Honors Program.
“Don’t be satisfied with this accomplishment. Reflect on what brought you here, and focus on what more there is to accomplish,” said Laster. He continued on by asking the students “How will you apply your academic achievements to be a powerful force to change the world?”
A total of 1,268 awards were given to ASU scholars.
