Albany State University Georgia Water Policy Center hosts 2022 Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Waters Conference
The Albany State University (ASU) Georgia Water Policy Center partnered with the Flint RiverQuarium, The Jones Center at Ichauway, Auburn University College of Agriculture, and the Flint RiverKeeper to host the 2022 Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Waters Conference. The conference took place in person on April 26-28 in Albany, Georgia.
The conference highlighted recent studies showing the changes in basin conditions. Results of the studies will be used to manage shared resources in the Apalachicola-Flint-Chattahoochee River Basin. The conference included a field trip to the Flint River followed by a river-side reception and dinner.
“We are excited to learn and dialogue with colleagues and interested stakeholders about all the good work happening in this Basin,” said Mark Masters, Director of the ASU Water Center. “More importantly, we reconnected in person and sharing the natural beauty of the Flint River and Southwest Georgia with our visitors.”
The program brought together scientists, technical analysts, and practitioners. Speakers addressed restoration and conservation initiatives; reservoir dynamics; water quality monitoring; shoal bass and mussel conservation; management of the Apalachicola Bay; and other collaborative science and management projects.
Ninety-three researchers, managers, water users, students, and other stakeholders attended the event.
