RE: CRRSAA Act Student Emergency Grants
Albany State University (ASU) has received $2,568,544 from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA Act) to assist students financially as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is based on the university’s student aid allocation in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
Students (including students exclusively enrolled in distance education), may use the CRRSAA grant for any component of their cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus, such as tuition, food, housing, health care, (including mental health care) and childcare both for current, summer and fall semester.
Students who are enrolled for spring 2021, and who meet the following eligibility requirements will receive a grant for the 2021-2022 academic year in the amount of:
- Zero Expected Family Contribution (EFC) $680/per student
- Pell Eligible (excluding zero EFC) $360/per student
- All Other Enrolled Students $152/per student
Who will be eligible to receive CRRSAA funds?
ASU is required to prioritize grants to students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants. However, students do not need to be Pell Grant recipients or eligible for Pell Grants in order to receive a grant through CRRSAA. Dual Enrolled students are not eligible.
ASU will use each student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC), as determined by the U.S. Department of Education using the 2020-2021 FAFSA, to award the emergency grant based on each student’s socioeconomic circumstance. The award amounts are determined by tiers not to exceed the allotted CRRSAA grant award amount.
Where can students find their Expected Family Contribution (EFC)?
Each student’s EFC can be found on their Institutional Student Information Record or their Banner Web Self-Service account.
- Log-in to Banner Web Self-Service
- Click on the “Student Services & Financial Aid” tab
- Click on the “Financial Aid” link
- Click on the “My Award Information” link
- Click on the “Award by Aid Year” link
- Select the 2020-2021 Aid year from the dropdown
- View “Award Overview” tab
- Under “Need Calculation Area,” you will find “Estimated Family Contributions” (EFC)
When will students receive the CRRSAA Grant?
The Bursar’s Office will begin to post eligible students’ CRRSAA grants to student accounts on March 22, 2021. ASU students will be notified via their student email once the award process is complete.
Access the Touchnet Portal to confirm your refund method.
- Students that are eligible for the grant will receive their funds via the refund method selected on the Touchnet Portal.
- If Direct Deposit is selected it will take from 24 to 48 hours once the process is complete.
- If the Direct Deposit method is not chosen, then a paper check will be issued, which usually takes from 10 to 14 days to be delivered.
