If you have an interest in science then the field of histotechnology might be for you. Multiple disciplines are represented in histotechnology including anatomy, chemistry, microbiology and core histology. As the field of cancer research continues to expand so do the skills of qualified histotechnicians.

What is Histotechnology

Histotechnicians (HT) prepare thin sections of human and veterinary tissue samples for microscopic examination by a doctor. These thin sections are usually viewed by a pathologist or PhD depending on the nature of the sample. The histotechnician must work quickly and under pressure since the answers may be needed while the patient is in surgery. Job opportunities exist in hospitals, independent labs, pharmaceutical companies, coroner’s offices, forensics and research.
