ASU Student Spotlight: Kimberley Reed, Forensic Science major
Intern, Flint RiverQuarium
Intern, ASU Water Policy Center
Kimberley Reed, from Albany, is a sophomore forensic science major who has a deep interest in science and assisting law enforcement in solving cases. She is a dedicated member of the criminal justice club and intern for the ASU Water Policy Center and Flint RiverQuarium.
What are you learning at your internship with the Water Policy Center and Flint RiverQuarium?
It takes hard work to keep the Flint River at its best and taking care of all the different species of animals that are in the aquarium. It’s really a fun experience, and I gain knowledge every time I’m there.
What do you aspire to be and love most about your chosen field?
I aspire to be the best forensic scientist in the field. I love how it’s such a hands-on, yet a “challenging at times” type of career. It requires you to be a critical thinker and be able to put the puzzle together.
Who made the biggest impact on you, and who is someone you consider to be a role model
at ASU?
Honestly, I consider all the professors who teach forensic science and criminal justice role models. They inspire me and give me the knowledge to succeed in my career.
What advice would you give to students with an interest in forensic science?
I would tell them to make sure that they pay attention, study hard and try their absolute best. Come in with a determined mindset and know that this is actually what you want to do.
