Meet the Student Success Team


Dr. Kimberly Burgess Executive Director of Student Success kimberly.burgess@asurams.edu 229-500-2927 Dr. Kimberly Burgess currently oversees orientation, transition, and academic recovery initiatives at ASU and collaborates with campus partners to develop strategies to improve student outcomes. Dr. Burgess has served students in diverse postsecondary environments for over 20 years as an advisor, faculty member, and administrator.
Mr. Andre’ Joseph Coordinator, New Student Programs andre.joseph@asurams.edu 229-500-2976 Mr. Andre’ Joseph coordinates programming for Rams who are ready to start their ASU experience. He is a two-time alum of Albany State whose career has focused on creating and leading initiatives to support Golden Rams in areas of residential life, transition, career services, and student success.
Mr. Quenton Matthews Coordinator, Summer Success Academy & Freshman Leadership Academy quenton.matthews@asurams.edu 229-500-2978 Mr. Quenton Matthews, a graduate of ASU, coordinates first-year programs that develop the leadership potential of students and successfully transition them into the ASU experience. Mr. Matthews’ career has centered on developing the holistic student and integrating self-care and persistence into comprehensive career plans.
Ms. Aaliyah Howard Student Retention Coordinator aaliyah.howard@asurams.edu 229-500-2839 Ms. Aaliyah Howard coordinates the Early Alert program, facilitates student success workshops, and works individually with students on time management, study skills, and college work-life balance. She received her bachelor's and masters degrees from Albany State University. A former student-athlete, Ms. Howard has always focused on helping students develop persistence and resiliency.
Mr. Sean Kirkwood Student Success Assistant sean.kirkwood@asurams.edu Mr. Sean Kirkwood is a sophomore forensic science major from Chicago, IL. He provides administrative, marketing, and customer service support for all programming initiatives within Student Success. As a first-year student, he participated in Summer Success Academy and Freshman Leadership Academy. Mr. Kirkwood is trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a phlebotomist and currently interns with the Dougherty County Coroner's office.
