Go to the University website (www.asurams.edu).
Go to the “Student Life” tab.
On the right, go to the “Campus Housing” tab.
Click on the “Logging into the Housing Portal” Link to be directed to the Housing Application.
Yes, the deadline is June 1, 2024. If all available room spaces are reserved prior to the deadline, then room selection will no longer be available and students will be able to sign up for the waiting list until the deadline.
In order to complete the housing application, a $100.00 non-refundable application fee is required. All major credit cards and debit cards are accepted (excluding American Express).
The meal plan selection page is the last page of the housing application and room selection process. When you arrive at the page, you will be able to view and select from the meal plan and dining dollar options. All residential students are required to purchase a meal plan and dining dollar option.
When you get to the room selection page, you can filter by residence hall location to view the available room spaces. Once you find the room you would like, just add the room to your cart.
First year female students may currently select available rooms in East Hall, Hall 5, South Hall and West Village South (West Campus).
First year male students may currently select available rooms in North Hall, Hall 5, and West Village South (West Campus).
Yes. All special requests for housing go through the Counseling and Student Accessibility Services including requests to accommodate a disability or a medical condition (physical or mental). Students should register for housing like any other student as soon as possible and contact the https://www.asurams.edu/student-affairs/counseling-disability-services/index.php. We have a variety of options across campus, and we work to accommodate what the Disability Resource Center deems necessary and appropriate for the student.
There is no overnight visitation from outside guests and/or persons that are not ASU Residents. Freshmen are not allowed to have visitation nor are they permitted into upperclassmen residential buildings. Residents Assistants will enforced residence halls visitiation policy to include verbal warning and written documentation. 
All residence halls are open for mid-year breaks (Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break). All residents must leave during breaks in between semesters.
All residence halls feature controlled access, requiring RAM ID cards for entrance. All communities have a community desk. The desk is the center for all operations in the community and operates weekly 6pm-midnight and 12noon-midnight on weekends. For maintenance requests, in your room please scan the QR code flyer title Maintenance Request on the back of your unit door or in your building lobby. For further assistance with requests, please contact your Hall Staff.
Along with all other University System of Georgia institutions, ASU is a tobacco-free campus. Use of any/all forms of tobacco products is prohibited on campus and within the residence halls. In addition, the burning of candles, incense or other materials is not permitted. Each room is equipped with a smoke detector, and each hall has several fire alarm pull stations and fire extinguishers in case of emergency.
University Housing recommends that students obtain some type of renter’s insurance whether that be a special policy or as a part of the parents’ homeowner policy.
All halls have wireless internet at no extra cost. Wired Ethernet ports can be activated at no charge by contacting the ITS HelpDesk https://helpdesk.asurams.edu/ Phone service is not provided, as most students use cell phones to communicate.
Village South and Commons residence halls have communal kitchens—on the first floors of each building. Students must clean up after themselves and use their own kitchen utensils, cookware and dishes. Halls 1 & 2 have kitchenettes complete with cabinets, a microwave, a kitchen sink, and a full-size refrigerator. Halls 3 & 4 have full-kitchen complete with cabinets, a microwave, a kitchen sink, stove and a full-size refrigerator.
All halls have laundry facilities onsite. Hall 1 & 2, Village South, Commons the laundry room is on the first floor. Hall 5 & 6 have laundry rooms on each floor. Laundry is included in the rent rate and machines do not accept cards or coins.
Fall fees are typically due before classes begin in August, and Spring fees are due before classes begin in January. All transactions will be made through Student Accounts. Credit card payments can be made online. Make checks payable to the Albany State University. Do not remit any payments to University Housing.
Students are encouraged to apply for housing as soon as possible to increase the likelihood that they will receive housing. Students must be admitted to Albany State University before they can apply for housing. As soon as possible! The room selection process is completed several times throughout the summer. Each time the process is completed, all students with a completed application are eligible to choose a room. As we get closer to the Fall Semester, the student is less likely to receive their first housing preference or roommate. You will need to complete a room change request form if you wish to change rooms.
We do not accept Room Change Request Forms until after the first two weeks of each semester. If you need immediate assistance in your current living situation, please contact your Area Coordinator to request a change.
Also, please understand we cannot guarantee you a room in the same community you are currently assigned to. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
The earliest you can change rooms or roommates is two weeks after the semester begins. If you are experiencing a conflict with your roommate, you should first contact your Resident Assistant for help in mediating the conflict. If you still desire to change rooms or roommates, you should then contact your Area Coordinator to request a room change within the same residence hall. To request a room change to another building you will need to come to the Central Housing Office.
Students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours semester to reside on campus. Any expectations must be approved the Director of Housing & Residence Life.
Students that wish to cancel their housing assignment can do so using the Housing Cancellation Form, located on the My Housing Portal.
Generally, check-in begins one week before classes begin for the semester. You will receive the exact date and times via your ASU e-mail account. Also check the Move In Day Page.
The Housing & Residence Life fee includes rent, all utilities, extended basic cable, basic furnishings, unlimited self-laundry and internet/e-mail access.
Yes, ASU policy requires students to have a meal plan when residing in Residence Life. Students sign up for a meal plan when they complete the online housing room selection process. Please visit the https://www.asurams.edu/fiscal-affairs/auxiliary-services/dining/residential-meal-plans.php
You can bring basic living items (bedding, toiletries, towels, and kitchenware), as well as a few personal items (television, gaming system, computer, posters, pictures, etc.) We only ask that you do not put nails (small tacks are ok) in the walls or bring your own furniture. All students are encourage to purchase twin extra long sheets which will fit of the beds in first-year housing areas at ASU.
Students do not have a set curfew, but we do ask that all students respect ASU visitation policies within the halls.
Each residing student is required to purchase a mailbox at the Campus Mail Center. The fee is $12.00 per year. Students should make sure that their mail is addressed as follows:

Each resident is financially responsible for paying the housing fee for the period that is selected on the original contract. A "Housing Cancellation/Termination" form must be submitted to the University Housing Office in order to officially terminate a contract. In most cases, a termination fee will be assessed to the student based on the date of termination and in accordance termination fee schedule, unless the student qualifies and provides documentation for waiver of the termination fee as specified in the official contract. https://apps.asurams.edu/forms/housingcancellation/
Depending on the severity of the damages, you may be charged. Charges will be placed on your account as a hold and can be paid through Student Accounts.
You may decorate, but do so at your own discretion. You should not plan to make holes or paint the walls. If the walls are determined to be damaged, you will incur a charge to your account.
ASU has several locations where students can purchase meals. In addition to the cafeteria, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Rams Wrap and Pizza Hut on the East Campus. The cafeteria and RAM’s Hideway are both located on the West Campus. Learn more by visiting our Dining Services webpage.
