Dual Enrollment Admissions

Dual Enrollment provides high school students with the opportunity to take college courses for both college and high school credit.  Students interested in Dual Enrollment are encouraged to talk with their high school counselor as early as possible to ensure all deadlines are met. Students should be aware that college courses are typically more rigorous than high school courses and move at a faster pace.  Also, Dual Enrollment courses result in real college credit and the grades become a part of the student's permanent college record.  Grades earned through Dual Enrollment can assist with future eligibility for college admission and scholarships as well as high school graduation.

 

  • Provides students with an easy transition and an early start to their college careers
  • Students graduate college early and/or possibly even earn an associate degree
  • College tuition and expenses are fully or mostly paid
  • Saves parents/students money and time

  • High school students attending a public, private, or home study program in Georgia can participate in the Dual Enrollment (DE) Program. 
  • Students may enroll in up to 15 hours of approved classes for the Dual Enrollment (DE) Program.
  • The parent/guardians of 9th graders must complete an Acknowledgment of Financial Responsibility Form.
  • 10th graders must meet Zell Miller Requirements or these students’ parent/guardians must complete an Acknowledgment of Financial Responsibility Form.

 Minimum admissions requirements for the Dual Enrollment Program are as follows:
  1. Apply to Albany State University at www.gafutures.org as a dual enrollment student. 
  2. Dual Enrollment Student Participation Agreement Form
  3. High school academic GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Submit an official transcript of secondary credits completed to date and evidence that the student is on track with college preparatory curriculum.
  5. Home study programs within the State of Georgia must operate in accordance with O.C.G.A. §20-2-690(c)
  6. Students must also submit ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer test scores that meet the following minimum standards.

  • Meet Dual Enrollment admission requirements.
  • Home study programs within the State of Georgia must operate in accordance with O.C.G.A. §20-2-690(c)
  • Submit Home Study Declaration of Intent to Dual Enrollment Coordinator
  • Please complete the ASU School Admissions Portfolio here.
  • A Dual Enrollment Student Participation Agreement and Funding Applicationmust be completed each School Year before registering for classes by the following deadlines:
  • Fall: October 1st
  • Spring: March 1st
  • Summer: May 15th

  • Courses must be discussed with your high school counselor and guardian and be listed on your Dual Enrollment Student Participation Agreement Form prior to registration appointment.
  • Fall and summer pre-registration usually begins in April, and Spring pre-registration usually begins in November.
  • Registration ends during add/drop schedule adjustment period of first week of classes
  • Look at the Class Schedule to determine course availability along with days/times

  • GA Futures Dual Enrollment Scholarship Application - Can be found on GA Futures and will need to be submitted by student each year of enrollment. Public/Private school students will submit a paper application to the Dual Enrollment Coordinator. Deadlines for each semester are below as follows:

  • Fall: October 1st
  • Spring: March 1st
  • Summer: May 15th

Once you have admitted, it is time to get ready for the semester! You will need to complete the “what comes next” checklist to get prepared for the upcoming semester. This includes:

  • Exploring links in Banner Web
  • Office 365 (all communication will be done via official student email)
  • Exploring GeorgiaVIEW (D2L) (courses will not show up until the first day of class) – utilized whether you are taking a fully online class or accessing support pages for your courses. You can visit the login page by clicking the following link: GeorgiaView Login
  • Get your Student ID Card
  • Obtain a Parking Pass
  • Pick up your books – Required books for approved Dual Enrollment courses are provided as rentals to students. Students are able to get their books from the Bookstore one week prior to the start of classes
  • Submit GA Futures Dual Enrollment Scholarship application

  • Go to class or sign in online!
