Velma Fudge Grant Honors Application Process
The Velma Fudge Grant Honors Program at Albany State University accepts applications twice each academic year. The application period opens on the first day of classes and closes on the last day of classes for the Fall and Spring semesters.

Eligibility Requirements
Enrollment Requirement
Applicants must intend to complete a four-year bachelor's degree program at Albany State University. This requirement ensures students are able to complete the full Honors Program curriculum, which is designed to be taken throughout a four-year course of study. Students pursuing certificate, diploma, or associate degree programs are not eligible for admission because those programs do not include all of the courses required to complete the Honors Program curriculum.
Minimum 3.5 high school GPA.· Minimum 1000 combined SAT score or 22 composite ACT score.

Completion of at least 15 transferable college credit hours.

Seniors are not eligible to apply for the Honors Program.
Application Process
The Honors Program will review all completed applications to determine whether applicants meet the minimum eligibility requirements.
Applicants have 30 calendar days from the date the interview invitation is emailed to respond and select an available interview date and time.
Applicants who fail to respond within 30 calendar days will have their application closed and must submit a new application during a future application period.
Applicants will participate in an interview with Dr. Florence Lyons, Director of the Velma Fudge Grant Honors Program.
Following the interview, applicants will receive notification of the committee's decision through their Albany State University email account.
Program Expectations
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
- Complete at least 80 hours of community service during the undergraduate career.
- Serve on an Honors Program committee for at least one semester.
- Be an active member of the Honors Council.
- Participate in required Honors Program meetings, workshops, leadership activities, and special events.
- Comply with all Velma Fudge Grant Honors Program policies and procedures.
- Submit an application to the Albany State University Center for Undergraduate Research and, if accepted, present research at the ASU Undergraduate Research Symposium/Colloquium.
- Enroll in and successfully complete all required Honors Program curriculum courses.
Important Information
- Applications are accepted only during the published Fall and Spring application periods.
- Meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission to the Honors Program.
- All official communication regarding your application will be sent to your Albany State University email account.
- Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.
- Applicants who are not admitted may reapply during a future application cycle if they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
