Severe Weather Update: ASU Virtual Operations until 1 PM, Monday, March 16

Due to potential severe weather in the region, Albany State University will operate virtually until 1 PM on Monday, March 16. We will continue to monitor weather conditions and inform you if there are any operational changes by Monday afternoon. 

  • All in-person University events scheduled for Monday, March 16 before 1 PM are cancelled. 
     
  • All classes until 1 PM on Monday, March 16 will be held in an online remote instruction format. Faculty and students should continue course instruction through GeorgiaView. 
  • Faculty and staff are to work virtually until 1 PM. Facilities and other essential staff are expected to report as directed by their supervisor. 
  • Residence halls will remain open. The ASU Police Department will remain available to ensure the safe operation of essential functions. Be sure to download the LiveSafe app to stay safe.
  • Dining will be open beginning at 1 PM.
     
  • RAM Rush transportation will begin operations at 1 PM. 
     
Severe Weather Tips: We strongly encourage all individuals to exercise precautions during these weather conditions using the tips below. 
 

In Advance of Severe Weather; 

  • Lock and secure all windows.  
  • Locate the nearest emergency shelter in your building. Emergency shelters are located on the first floor and are identified by an emergency shelter sign. 
  • Fully charge your electronic devices (phones and backup batteries).  
  • Store important documents and medicines in your “Go-Bag,” with additional clothes and essential items in case you need to leave quickly. Include a copy of your emergency contacts, insurance information, and a record of any medical condition(s). 
     

During Severe Weather; 

  • Block windows if necessary and move away from them. 
  • Stay sheltered in a safe location within your residence hall or home. 
  • Avoid walking or parking around trees.  
 
Additional updates and information will be shared by way of your university e-mail accounts, the ASU website, all official University social media accounts, and the ASU Emergency Communications System (LiveSafe) if an emergency occurs.
